International hybrid seminar discussing about Javanese and Chinese culture through literature works and anthropological food perspective held by Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) and Faculty of Literature and Journalism Xihua University has run smoothly. This international event was held on Thursday (26/11/2021). The offline event was held in Seminar Room FIB UNS and shared online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting application and FIB UNS YouTube channel. The speakers in this event were Dr. Dwi Susanto, M. Hum and Dr. Marimin, M. Si.

As the first speaker, Dr. Dwi Susanto, M. Hum took the issue of interaction between traditional Chinese with Javanese tradition in Narration Story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yintai in Javanese Traditional Society. The evidence between these interactions has existed many years ago. “It can be seen through Salmon’ s research on Chinese loan word and Wiryamartana’s research about the equality of Old Javanese Literature narrative order with Chinese classic literature and other researches about culinary, architecture, agriculture, fashion (batik), etc.”, he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Marimin, M. Si talked about The Art Java – China Culinary Acculturation (Food Anthropological Perspective). He discussed about Peking duck and Sanbeji, both are represent the similarity  acculturation of  Java and China. “Various Chinese art culinary almost all can be accepted by Javanese. It is attached in their daily life. For instance, Peking duck and Sanbeji are easily called roasted duck, but they have  different in their presentation. We can call it as Java and China acculturation similarity”, he said.

The collaboration event between Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) and Faculty of Literature and Journalism Xihua University has not over yet. Performing art festivals such as traditional Chinese lion dance (Barongsai) performance from Macan Putih Solo and traditional Javanese shadow puppet (wayang  kulit) entitled “Gathutkaca Wisuda” performed by Ki Lucky Gusti Yoga and Ki Sofiyan Aditiya Firman, Local Literature Student, will be held on Friday (27/11/2020). All will be performed virtually with strict health protocol.
